Fresh and Simple - Kiki and Polly

It was a full weekend with lots of walking and fun.
My sister's bridal shower was a very posh afternoon tea and I swear I've been eating the take-away scones for three days now. Seriously, I've never had such tasty scones.

Since I'm having a nice little morning (eating the last of the scones right now!) I thought it would be nice to share some pieces by Kiki and Polly. Aren't they simple and lovely?
Lisa Golightly's art is mainly inspired by her family but I think the compositions and nostalgia are just perfect. Plus, you can get her prints at pretty affordable rates from her Etsy shop.

Modern Homemade

My good friend Ms. M turned me on to her new favorite blog, where after a few clicks through the posts I discovered these images. The photos are from Ikea's new cookbook, Homemade is Best. They are shot by photographer Carl Kleiner and styled by Evelina Bratell. I have featured Carl Kleiner's work here before and I am such a huge fan of his use of objects, colour and quirk. What a fantastic way to present recipes! Those ingredients look wonderful and most importantly, very delicious... :)

Still Life: Karen Appleton

It's getting colder outside. Winter is not my favorite season.
Christmas is approaching. I have a weird relationship with Christmas.
I've worked in retail enough that I've grown a bit "grinchy" about certain aspects of it but my husband really loves it. Loves it like kid does. And it's begun to work on me. I'm beginning to look forward to the planning around it and even to listening to the typical songs.

These pretty paintings aren't about Christmas but they are definitely about gifts!

Mane Attraction

There are moments that I really wish I had gone to art school.
Looking at these illustrations, I wish desperately that I had the skills to put such lovely things onto paper.

Illustrations by Maria Gil Ulldemolins.
This is her shop. You can even order your own hairline drawings.
Found them here.

Fabulous Still Life

Some quirky chic for your Friday!
These guys were put together by Carl Kleiner and I am loving every inch of them.
Fabulous objects done up nice with a splash of humour. Just what I am in the mood for today.
I am also gearing up for a wicked Saturday. I've got a silk-screening/letterpress workshop to attend and I am so excited that I even beat my alarm by an hour because I was thinking of all the things I'll need to get together. I am hoping to work on some sketches and things tonight and I'll share them with you if they look worthy! (Or maybe even if they don't...)

Images found here.

These beautiful beautiful rocks are ... paintings! Isn't that absolutely unreal? They are so gorgeous!
