Some peaceful and fun colour combinations to kick off Wednesday morning.
A beautiful collection by textile designer, Karen Barbé.

Happy morning!

Texture Feast

Toronto woke up to a flurry of snow today.
I got up in the early morning to use the bathroom and caught a glimpse of the white stuff falling outside my window. It was pretty out there but the best feeling was knowing I could climb back into bed and go back to being cozy. I have such a love-hate relationship with winter in this city. I love the snowfall but I hate the slush. I can deal with winter until about February. Then it's minus thirty degrees celsius and I'm pretty much over it. The extreme cold depresses me. All I ever want to do is stay home and read or watch movies. There are seasons for every activity, I guess.

I'm going to do some typing today. Not here. I'm going to sit at my new typewriter and hammer out a letter and post it overseas by the end of the weekend. I may even get around to doing some printing.
I've planned a cozy and thoughtful day. Here's to letter writing and not catching cabin fever!

I found the images above and thought they were so inspiring. I love the detail of the textures and the tones. They are available at Lost and Taken, a site that provides free high res textures by Caleb Kimbrough. Good resource for some creativity, eh?
I first saw them here.

Texture Taste

I have some chicken in the oven and some lentils on the stove.
It's been a quiet day.
I wrote a couple of letters, found these images full of woven pieces and vintage homely things, and then to top it off laid down with Henry the Cat for a bit.
Very nice indeed.

Pillows found at The Black Strap.

Sophisticate.

One of my favourite things about life is socializing. I am a chatty, gossiping fool. It makes me happy to catch up with friends, meet new characters and even just people watch.
One of my favourite things about the blog-world is how, in a matter of a few moments and a few clicks, you can share your world, peer into someone else's or even set up a whole new one. Online. Just like that.
I had this conversation earlier today with my good friend Mrs. M and through our little chat I got turned onto Habitually Chic, a pretty little blog about interior design (and more). I found the above photos from Heather's post about the book on Malene Birger, a Danish designer/artist in Life and Work: Malene Birger's Life in Pictures. The interior design photos are wonderful... but I found the detail shots so inspiring and sophisticated, I just had to share them. I love the colour palette, the rich tones and the mix of textures.
I would have never seen this book if it weren't for the magical world of links and it makes me pretty happy! Thank you ladies!

Acid Feelings

I love to shop but I am prone to buyer's remorse.
Not because I regret the item but often because I wish things didn't cost actual money. Wouldn't that be nice?

I picked up a few things on sale yesterday and then had to deal with my guilt even before the drive home was over. My husband was pretty nice about the whole thing and he tried to remind me that it is okay to spend a little on yourself every once in a while. I really hadn't gotten anything new in a long time and committed myself to ACTUALLY sorting out my clothing. I will be donating stuff I do not wear anymore and threw out a couple of jeans that were in terrible condition. Things are tidy and it was rather cathartic to flush it all out.

On that note, please enjoy the images from Proenza Schouler, Spring-Summer 2011, and see if you can resist how much these photos make you want to shop ;)
