A Vintage Home

In our new space, I'm gravitating towards clean and tidy.

We lived in a cramped space before with all our collections on display (vhs, cd, dvd, records, cassettes - yes, cassettes!). While I loved having everything on hand, I think it will be nice to have everything orderly for a change. Or at least as long as I can keep it that way. 

That being said, I still really like the above images - a rather collected little home - something about it feels put together, slightly cluttered but still right. And that's hand-carved ebony and ivory jewellery, reclaimed from an piano!

Paintings - David Band

It's warming up finally!
But it's still rather dreary out there right now.
I've been very busy and it seems like everyone around me is running around too.
What's up with that?

I found these lovely paintings by David Band and was immediately drawn to their soft geometric shapes and the interesting colour combinations. A good way to kick off the week, I think!

Is All White Alright?

My apologies for the complete lack of posting.
I can even tell you where the days have gone.
We have been apartment hunting.
I have been up at six everyday for a crazy workout week.
I have been running around and thinking and printing and now... sneezing.
We have managed to find a cool little apartment. We've got our fingers crossed for it.
The only thing is it is very white.
I've never lived in a stark white place and I'm worried it will be cold.

This image above has me reconsidering all my notions about white.
It's beautiful, serene and chic.
I'm loving it and I love the contrast with the charcoal and dove grey tones.

Texture Feast

Toronto woke up to a flurry of snow today.

I got up in the early morning to use the bathroom and caught a glimpse of the white stuff falling outside my window. It was pretty out there but the best feeling was knowing I could climb back into bed and go back to being cozy. I have such a love-hate relationship with winter in this city. I love the snowfall but I hate the slush. I can deal with winter until about February. Then it's minus thirty degrees celsius and I'm pretty much over it. The extreme cold depresses me. All I ever want to do is stay home and read or watch movies. There are seasons for every activity, I guess.

I'm going to do some typing today. Not here. I'm going to sit at my new typewriter and hammer out a letter and post it overseas by the end of the weekend. I may even get around to doing some printing. 

I've planned a cozy and thoughtful day. Here's to letter writing and not catching cabin fever!

Fivetimesone - Lust!

I have been finding myself totally craving interior design doses. I am especially loving the images from the online catalogue of Fivetimesone. The felt pillows are adorable, functional and beautifully done but I really love the colour palette and the presentation of the products.
Could I have one? Would it just end up a glorified cat bed? At least the marled texture would hide the fur.
