Dinner Party Dreams

I want to host a dinner party. Actually, I'd love to host a series of them or maybe one giant one where all the different people in the different areas of my life come together and eat good food and drink lots. We don't currently have a large dining table (and definitely not the beautiful set up pictured above) but don't guests always end up sitting around the coffee table to chat anyways? Our friends do! (Although maybe that's because we don't have a proper dining table?) Regardless, it's nice to welcome people into your home and make them things. I roasted a whole chicken a few weeks ago that was, if I may get boastful, very delicious and gave me a good dose of culinary pride. I'm good with seasoning and I love using the oven since it's baby friendly because it's cooking by itself while you play with the baby. 

This weekend is the beginning of the fall holiday season - we'll be over at friend's tomorrow evening and we've got family plans on Sunday and the holiday Monday. It'll be nice to eat lots of turkey and treats. The holidays can sometimes feel burdened with planning and busyness but you do it because it's nice to get everyone together. A worthwhile ordeal. It's a good kind of chaos. 

This time last year we told our families that we were having a baby. It still felt so unbelievable at the point - and goodness! - how far away it seemed from the realness of an actual baby. Now that baby is four months, nearing eighteen pounds and showing me more of his personality every day. The adventure just keeps growing.

Super Cool (Horoscope!) Year Ahead

I found the above on a blog trip the other night and was thrilled to see how interesting the styling was for each of the horoscope signs. Mine - taurus - is featured above and it's a good one! Seriously, the whole horoscope is telling me what a monumental, love-filled and amazing year it's going to be. I didn't really need it to state the obvious, considering we're deep into our marriage and expecting a new family member, but it was sure fun to read how great everything is looking. Here's to a new year of adventure?

I will always have a special place in my heart for astrology (cheesy, I know!). I don't take it seriously or live my life by it, but I've always found it to be kind of fascinating. I remember reading pages and pages of books on all the signs. It's sort of always been a guilty pleasure for me and much to Chris' chagrin, old habits die hard.

Styling Your Style

One of the most difficult things I have found about blogging, and I am sure I am not alone, is the selection of what makes it to the blog and what doesn't. A lot of the blogs I love are great at this. From the first page you just "get" what the blog is about. Often blogs that a really defined in their styling are also rather specific in their subject matter. One will be all about interiors or mainly about fashion. I find it hard to narrow in because I have purposely intended on keeping my scope wide.
I want to be discovering a lot of different things about a lot of different things.
When I was debating about whether to make the leap into an active member of the blogosphere, a friend of mine told me to just start it and your style will follow.
I'm not sure if that has happened here yet although I have definitely noticed some patterns in what gets posted. I like my art graphic and bright. Usually on either end of a spectrum. Highly ethereal or super bold. Typography turns me on. Thin. Thick. Serifs. Scribbles. More of the graphic world.
But I also like craft. There's a deep longing inside me for crafty things. Hand-sewn. Put together. Natural. Printed. Altered.

So where does that leave Suite Henry?
This is the adventure, no?

I hope that people like what I like because I am excited about whatever does make it to the screen.

Fabulous objects done up nice with a splash of humour. Just what I am in the mood for today.

I am also gearing up for a wicked Saturday. I've got a silk-screening/letterpress workshop to attend and I am so excited that I even beat my alarm by an hour because I was thinking of all the things I'll need to get together. I am hoping to work on some sketches and things tonight and I'll share them with you if they look worthy! (Or maybe even if they don't...)
